Providing our customers with the highest quality water is the top priority for Lakewood Water District.  Our water meets all health and safety regulations.  Our staff monitors and tests the water system to ensure it is safe to drink.  The Pumping and Water Treatment Department staff has various other responsibilities including:

  • Operates and maintains a distribution system consisting of thirteen tanks; thirty active wells (which translates into thirty pump/motor assemblies, thirty pump control valves, and thirty electronic motor starters, eighteen flow control valves); six filtration plants; eleven booster pump stations; five separate pressure zones with pressure reducing/sustaining/relief valves; fourteen OSB (On-site Generation) chlorine generators; thirty chlorine injection pumps; one office and twenty-two remote SCADA/telemetry communication and command and control units;  grounds and buildings on twenty-two remote sites plus the main office.
  • Monitors and maintains a distribution system wide chlorine residual.
  • Monitors and maintains water quality standards including taking an annual average of 957 different samples including bacteriologic, IOCs, VOCs, SOCs, Disinfectant by-products, Lead and Copper, and asbestos.
  • Adheres to regulatory requirements defined in the SDWA (Safe Drinking Water Act); Total Coliform Monitoring Rule; Disinfectant By-product rule; Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule; Lead and Copper Rule; Arsenic Rule; Wellhead Protection Program; Groundwater Rule to name a few.
