2020 Meter Change Out Program

Meter Change Out Notice

Lakewood Water District, in conjunction with our meter manufacturer, will be replacing meters which have been indicated by the manufacturer as potentially containing an engineering defect which can allow water intrusion in to the meter causing potential failures. These meters have not failed yet, but the manufacture is being proactive in replacing these meters before they fail.  The manufacturer has engaged Concord Utility Services to complete this work all at the vendor’s expense. The vendor is taking this action in conjunction with Lakewood Water District to avoid failures in the future.   This is part of our ongoing commitment to provide you with the very best service and high-quality, safe, clean water through cost-effective, innovative systems.

This project includes replacing approximately 7,000 residential and commercial meters within the District’s boundaries, which include Lakewood and a part of unincorporated Pierce County.  We will be starting the replacements around the first of October, 2020  It may take up to 3-4 months to completely replace all the District’s inefficient meters

If you have received a letter indicating that your meter has been determined as one that needs to be replaced, the installation will take approximately 30 minutes, and water usage may be interrupted for 10 to 15 minutes.  The installer will knock on the door to let the customer know they are there to replace the meter.  If there is no one home, the installer will leave a door hanger on the door letting the customer know that either the meter was installed successfully, there was water being used at the time or they were unable to access the meter for any reason and request the customer to call the District to schedule a time to come back for the installation.

We apologize in advance for any disruption this may cause, but providing safe, reliable drinking water will remain our highest priority throughout the project.  If you have any questions or feedback please contact us directly at (253) 588-4423 or via email.
